Safewalks is a New York City based public safety community initiative, founded in January 2021 after multiple attacks against women using the NY Subway system. From initial founding in Bushwick, Safewalks expanded to Manhattan , with first location being China Town area, amid increased attacks against the AAPI community in New York City. Safewalks has now grown to cover the greater New York City area ( except Staten Island ).

Our volunteers offer a presence to any fellow New Yorkers who are feeling scared of travelling alone, by offering chaperone services to and from transport stations/subway stations. In few special cases, we offer subway accompaniment. This is handled on a request by request basis.

Safewalks is currently New York City’s largest community driven public safety initiative, covering all boroughs except Staten Island
